Obituary of Dennis Edgar Greenwalt

Dennis Edgar Greenwalt , 68 of Farmersville, passed away Thursday afternoon, January 21, 2016, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL. Dennis was born March 23, 1947, in Carlinville, IL, a son of James Edgar and Pauline Marie Brockmiller Greenwalt. Dennis was a graduate from Carlinville High School. He proudly served his country in the Army from 1966-1968. Dennis started his career in law enforcement in Farmersville in 1980 and worked in Raymond, Morrisonville and Harvel. He retired in 2012 as Chief of Police in Edinburg, IL. Dennis followed his fathers love of driving a truck and drove part time for Fesser Inc. He enjoyed motorcycles, fishing, hunting, love for animals and was a great gun enthusiast. Dennis was preceded in death by his father, James Edgar Greenwalt, brothers, Randy and Jeffrey Greenwalt and nephew, Dean Greenwalt. Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Saturday, February 6, 2016 the Farmersville Knights of Columbus Hall with Pastor Greg Nimmo officiating. Visitation will follow the service until 4:00 pm. Burial will be at a later date in Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery, Carlinville. Dennis is survived by his mother, Pauline M. Greenwalt, of Carlinville, girlfriend, Pat Standish of Farmersville, IL, daughters, Christine (companion, David Range) Russell of Thayer, IL, and Patti Ibberson of Virden, IL, step-sons, Tony (Daniele) Loyd of Carbondale, IL, and Ron Loyd of Litchfield, IL, step-daughter, Cheryl (David) Pope of Waggoner, 4 grandchildren, 8 step-grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and nephew Eric Greenwalt.
