M. Keith "Red" Mefford M. Keith "Red" Mefford, 76, of Carlinville, died Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born February 5, 1933 in Hettick, Illinois, the Son of the late Wayne Mefford and the late Margurete Ladley. He married Barbara J. Miller in Carlinville on June 18, 1955. Following his graduation from Carlinville High School in 1951, Keith served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He was well-known for his affiliation with the Republican political party having served as Precinct Committeeman, Macoupin County Republican Chairman, Township Auditor, City Council Alderman, and Macoupin County Board of Supervisors. He served as driver's license examiner for the state of Illinois, director of the Macoupin County Nursing Home, and retired his supervisory position with the State Highway Department in 1991. He has been a member of the Carlinville Moose Lodge since 1964, American Legion Post 554 since 1989, and the Macoupin Center for the Developmentally Disabled organization for several years. Survivors: Wife, Barbara J Mefford, Daughters: Lori Hopping (Mark), and Tracy Bilbruck (Randy), Sons: Bradley Mefford (Paula Schaefer) and Douglas Mefford (Laura), grandchildren: Lexi and Darci Bilbruck, and Lucas and Elsa Mefford, all of Carlinville, Sister, Mary Hurst (Roy) of Overland Park, KS, Sister, Janet Collins (Ted) of Bethalto, IL, Brother, Bill Mefford (Marcia) of Houston, TX. Several Nieces and Nephews. Funeral Information Visitation: 4:00 to 6:00 P.M., Thursday, April 23 at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville. Services: 10:00 AM, Friday, April 24, 2009 at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home. Rev. Peter Kirby will officiate. Burial: Moore Cemetery in Carlinville. Donations Information Memorials may be made to the Macoupin Center For The Developmentally Disabled.
